First webinar of the series “Young people of today, leaders of tomorrow” on the theme of leadership. Each event, addressed to young people, will focus on issues regarding responsibility and leadership under different points of view - politics, the digital world and science – with a special guest in a leading position within the current Italian landscape.

The first virtual meeting will be about political leadership. Mara Carfagna, Minister for the South and Territorial Cohesion, will exchange ideas and opinions with young people drawing from a YouTrend survey.

The Next Generation EU (NGEU) has represented a turning point for the European Union and an unprecedented demonstration of solidarity in the face of the health and socio-economic crisis triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the disbursement of the allocated funds is conditioned on the implementation of important structural reforms for which Brussels requires strict guarantees. The existence of tensions with the national governments raises a number of questions: can joint support measures such as the NGEU become stable financial instruments?

On 13 April 2021, the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) and the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP), with the support of the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium, organised the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Next Generation Follow Up Meeting.
The event followed the EUNPD NextGen Workshops on non-proliferation and disarmament, an annual initiative that brings together outstanding young scholars, students and professionals to present fresh ideas and solutions to current non-proliferation and disarmament challenges.

On 25 November 2020, the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), on behalf of the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium, virtually held the annual EU Non-proliferation and Disarmament Next Generation Workshop. 14 young professionals were selected among over 50 applications to discuss pressing issues of the Arms Control, Non-Proliferation and Disarmament field and present fresh ideas and views on how to address the field’s main challenges.
