EUNPD Next Generation Workshop

2020 - current

The International Affairs Institute (IAI), with the support of the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium (EUNPDC), is in charge of the organisation of the EUNPD Next Generation Workshops on non-proliferation and disarmament.
The "NextGen Workshop", held annually in the fall, brings together outstanding young scholars, students and professionals to present fresh ideas and solutions to current non-proliferation and disarmament challenges. Through a highly-competitive selection process and among hundreds of applications, IAI chooses between 12 and 14 young participants from all over the world to discuss pressing issues of the Arms Control, Non-Proliferation and Disarmament field.
Every year the workshop tackles different aspects of the field, ranging from arms trade regulation and the fight against illicit Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW), to the non-proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), to the impact of Emerging Technologies (including cyber) on international security and arms control. The annual workshop, attended by EU officials and members of the EUNPD Consortium and Network, is followed by a Follow Up Meeting in the spring, which provides former participants with a platform to continue the exchange of ideas and to network.
