Biography

Stefania Benaglia is Associate Researcher at CEPS. She was associate fellow at the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), where she contributed to projects and research on India, EU-India relations and South Asia. Previously she worked as European Commission representative to the Politico Military Group (PMG) of the Council of the European Union, and in the Political and Security Committee (PSC) team at the Secretariat General of the European Commission. Stefania also worked as Research Assistant at NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and at the International Institute of Counter-Terrorism, Herzliya (Israel). Her research focuses on EU-India relations, South Asia, EU foreign and security policy, security and defence. Stefania holds a MA in strategic studies from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University.

Trust-building in North East Asia and the role of the EU

Thanks to a grant from the Korea Foundation, in 2016 the Istituto Affari Internazionali was able to promote international understanding of the current situation in North East Asia through the implementation of the project "Trust-building in North East Asia and the role of the EU". The project addressed the question of peace and security in the Far East, focusing on the efforts and the initiatives aimed at regional cooperation and trust-building undertaken by the leaderships of the Republic of Korea, Japan and China.
