Nato at 70: Assessing its Past, Present and Future Role in Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Arms Control

The project has two main objectives:

  • to raise awareness, among civil society and the general Italian public, of issues related to arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament, with particular regard to the role of NATO;
  • to stimulate a debate among experts on how to enhance NATO's role in promoting arms control in line with Italy's interests.

In view of these objectives, the project foresees three different types of activities: 1. drafting and publication of four research papers that will provide the starting point for the other activities 2. An expert meeting dedicated to the issues of arms control, non-proliferation, and disarmament, and to NATO's strategy and role. 3. A conference open to the public which will be held the day after the meeting of experts.
