Biography

Alessandro Marrone is Head of Defence Security and Space Program at IAI and a lecturer at the Istituto Superiore di Stato Maggiore Interforze (ISSMI) of the Italian Ministry of Defence. He is also a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the NATO Defense College, and is Scientific Advisor to both the Armament Industry European Research Group (ARES Group), since 2016, and the Centro Studi Militari Aerospaziali (CESMA). He currently oversees several projects and publications related to European and transatlantic security, space, and Italian defence policy.

Alessandro taught for four years at the University of Perugia, after earning a PhD in European History from La Sapienza University and a Master's in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He holds a degree in Political Science from LUISS Guido Carli University, where he also earned a Master's degree in International Relations.

He contributes to several Italian magazines and web magazines, including Airpress, Aspenia, EastWest, Formiche, Huffington Post, Rivista Italiana Difesa and Rivista Marittima. He frequently appears on television, radio, and in national and international press on security, defence, and space issues.

He is interested in armed conflicts, European defence, NATO, Italian defence and foreign policy, defence industry and market, space, security in the “enlarged Mediterranean” region.
