Le priorità della Presidenza italiana del Comitato delle Nazioni Unite per l’uso pacifico dello spazio extra-atmosferico (COPUOS): tra governance internazionale, sostenibilità e sfide tecnologiche

The project (September 2026-June 2027) aims to examine in depth the strategic, economic, governance, and sustainability issues currently receiving attention from the international community. In an equal partnership with ISPI, the IAI is tasked with drafting two of the four policy briefs envisioned by the project. The first focuses on the challenges and opportunities arising from future lunar exploration, while the second addresses space traffic management (STM) and space situational awareness (SSA) as tools for mitigating the risk of in-orbit collisions. At the conclusion of the project, both briefs will be presented at an event in Rome, serving as an occasion to share the research findings and engage in a collective reflection on the topics addressed.
