The Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) and the University of Naples L’Orientale are pleased to announce a conference to discuss the Draghi government’s approach to international affairs with a particular emphasis on the wider Mediterranean and an analysis of Italy’s energy policies in relation to the conflict in Ukraine and the need to diversify supplies from Russia.

In the framework of its strategic partnership with the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, every year IAI publishes a report on Italian foreign policy that analyses the government's actions in various international realms with a particular emphasis on the tree traditional pillars of Italian foreign policy: Europe, the transatlantic alliance and the wider Mediterranean.

IAI University of Turin Essay Prize 2022

The deadline for submission of essays has been extended to 30 September 2022.
The competition has been opened also to the contribution of recent graduates (1 year max.) from the University of Turin.

The Middle East continues to face overlapping challenges due to internal fragilities, ranging from fraying social contracts, mounting socio-economic grievances and increased authoritarian tendencies, as well as the continuation of interstate rivalries that, alongside the legacy of foreign interventionism, have created considerable instability across the region. Iraq is particularly exposed to many of these crises, located at the centre of geopolitical clashes between various conflicting axes, but also undertaking multiple efforts to foster intra-regional dialogue and de-escalation.
