The conference aims to examine ongoing initiatives to strengthen and expand transatlantic dialogue and cooperation on global challenges posed by technological developments in two key areas: technology infrastructure and semiconductors. To this end, four dedicated papers addressing those issues from a dual European and US perspective will be presented and discussed.

On 19 February IAI, in partnership with Focus 2030 and the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, organized a round table closed doors under the Chatham House rule on the implications of the new Mattei Plan for Italian development cooperation policy and how this fits into the context of Italy's development cooperation policy taking into account the broader international context, including the role of the Italian Presidency of the G7.

When the 50^th G7 will take place in Italy in June 2024, close to half a century will have passed since its inception in 1975. Much has changed since then: the G7’s weight on the global economy has declined, countries from the “Global South” ask for more voice, and the G20 has turned into the most important international forum for economic and financial coordination.

The Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), on behalf of the Italian Presidency of the Council of Ministers, was delighted to invite you to take part in the hand-over event of the activities of the G7 Digital and Technology Working Group from the Japanese to the Italian Presidency of G7. The event had a hybrid format and was held in Rome, Sala Monumentale of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Largo Chigi 19, on 22 January 2024 at 13:30-15:30.
