The project aimed at introducing, studying and explaining the prospects of North African hydrogen exports to the European Union in the public debate, as well as to understand the rationale and conditions for a stronger energy cooperation across the Mediterranean. The main output of the project was a IAI paper that includes a focus on the key role of Italy for North African hydrogen export plans and a number of economic, political and strategic considerations for the wider EU context. This work was be presented and further discussed in an ad hoc webinar and in a short article.

The project promoted an informed debate in view of the high-level international events guided or co-led by Italy in 2021, a decisive year for climate action: the G20, the 'Youth4Climate 2020: Driving Ambition' youth summit, the Pre-COP26/COP 26 negotiations, the ministerial conference on Africa's climate and environmental challenges.
