The Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the long-running global inequalities that affect access to health products, as exemplified by the unequal rates at which vaccines were distributed across high-income and low-income countries, leaving the African continent particularly exposed to health threats. In order to bridge this gap and achieve greater pandemic preparedness, a series of initiatives has been launched by national, regional and international actors to accelerate the production of health products on the continent.
