IMG-S: Integrated Mission Group for Security

IMG-S is the permanent open forum bringing together technology and security experts from industry, Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), research and technology organizations and academia. In support to the European Commission, one of IMGS’s goals is to define a roadmap of priorities for R&D in the security and technological fields. IAI is an active member of the Technology Area 6 (TA6) CBRNE and TA7 Cyber Security.

Biography

Paolo Foradori is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the School of International Studies of the University of Trento.
From 2011 to 2014 he was Associate Fellow of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.
From 2009 to 2011, he was Marie Curie Fellow at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, Monterey Institute of International Studies, California.

His research focuses on international relations, security studies, arms control and nonproliferation, peacekeeping.
He has extensively published on those issues.
He also worked with the United Nations in Russia, Kosovo and Afghanistan.

ANVIL - Analysis of Civil Security Systems in Europe FP7-SEC2010

The objective in this project is to explore and compare relevant cultural phenomena and legal determinations of civil security across Europe, taking into account the existing significant differences between countries and regions. The aim is to give the EU a clear view of which kind of systems that could successfully enhance the security in certain regions, and contribute and give EU-added value to the debate concerning “not one security fits all”.

SERIT: SEcurity Research in Italy

National Technological Platform on Security jointly promoted by Finmeccanica and CNR (National Research Council). SERIT brings together companies and institutions in Italy engaged in research on internal security. Among the goals of the Platform SERIT there is the definition of a technology roadmap on security defining the specificity and the priorities of the Italian R&D agenda while taking into account the European perspective. The IAI is an active member of the Liaison / Advisory Board for end-users and Technological Area 6 (CBRNE).

Biography

Ambassador Trezza chaired the Missile Technology Control Regime, the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva and the UN Secretary General's Advisory Board on Disarmament Matters in New York. He was Italy's Ambassador for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation, and Ambassador to the Republic of Korea. He coordinates the Italian ELN (European Leadership Network) group.

Carlo Trezza joined the Italian Foreign Service in 1970, serving in Zambia, Israel and Germany, before returning in 1981 to Rome to work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Political Department. In 1984, he was posted to Madrid as the First Counsellor. In 1989 he became the Head of the Press and Information Section of the Embassy of Italy in Washington, DC, a post he held for three years. From 1992 until 1996, he served as Head of the European Security and Disarmament Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome, followed by a year in the Office of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
