This project analyses major political, economic and social trends in the wider Atlantic basin with the view to identify potential evolutionary patterns. The research unfolds on various policy domains - politics and security, trade and finance, culture, social issues, environment and natural resources - with a particular emphasis on inter-regional links between the Americas, Africa and Europe.

The objective of this research project is to assess the evolution of EU crisis management missions and the participation of Italy. In particular, it aims to evaluate the effectiveness of EU missions, with a special focus on training and recruitment of personnel, as well as the proposals for reforming national and European legislation.

The project was launched by the King Baudouin Foundation (Belgium) and supported by a large transnational consortium of European foundations. Project partners included organisations from across Europe.

The conference has been organised in collaboration with the TEPSA network and Theseus, and with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Representation of the European Commission in Italy and Centro Studi sul Federalismo (CSF).
