Analysis of the signs of fragility in the priority areas for Italy's foreign policy

This project aimed to create an exchange platform between officials from different ministries and agencies in Italy involved in the policy development concerning countries that present elements of state fragility. This exchange was complemented by in-depth analyzes carried out by both IAI researchers and experts from think tanks of proven international reputation that stand out for their research work on the field, such as the International Crisis Group. The project entailed long publications, Commentaries, face-to-face briefings and webinars.

On 11 March 2020, the World Health Organization officially defined the epidemic crisis generated by COVID-19 as “pandemic”. What do Italians think of the action of the government and of the European Union to face it? How do they judge the behaviour of the prime minister, the government, the regional governors and the specialists? Do they trust China? Are they more or less favourable than before to international cooperation and the free movement of goods and people? Have conspiracy theories about the spread of the virus persuaded them?
