The historic energy transition that the world is currently facing, driven by stronger decarbonization policies, rapid low-carbon technological developments, and a strong effort in public and global governance policies, is one of the most important geopolitical aspects of the century, with impacts on national, regional and global socio-economic dynamics. Additionally, Russia's invasion of Ukraine has heavily weighed on the global energy system, potentially making Europe vulnerable to gas supply interruptions.

In this seminar, we will discuss the role of energy resources in the Eastern Mediterranean, which could contribute to enhance energy security and climate measures both in the region and beyond. At the beginning of the seminar, the key findings of the recent IAI Paper on this issue will be presented by the author.
