IAI-Eni sustainable energy scholarship - 2023

Selection of a graduate student for writing a Master’s Thesis in the thematic area of "Energy, climate and resources"

As part of the strategic partnership between IAI and Eni, the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) will grant a six-months scholarship to a graduate student, either of Italian citizenship or from an Italian public or private University (second year Master’s student or equivalent level) who intends to write a Master’s Thesis on the topics of energy transition, sustainability and energy as an engine for international development and cooperation. The Master’s Thesis can be written in English or Italian, as long as the student is enrolled in an Italian public or private University.

The scholarship is accessible to Master’s students who intend to graduate in the period between December 2023 and April 2024 in the sessions scheduled by their University. The beginning of the scholarship will be established according to the needs of the student, but its duration must be of six months (with a margin of flexibility).

Eligible applicants pursue one of these majors: International Relations, Political Science or International Economics.

The successful candidate will conduct his/her research in coordination with (and with the support of) IAI researchers. The student will also be able to participate to IAI’s activities, in particular those related to the "Energy, climate and resources" research program.

At the end of the six months, the candidate must provide a summary of his/her Thesis to the IAI. The IAI, upon the assessment and approval of the student’s work, will provide the student with a scholarship of € 4000, gross of the tax withholdings required by the current tax legislation. In case of a particularly brilliant research work, the IAI reserves the right to publish the student’s research in a ‘Quaderno IAI’ or to publish some extracts of the Thesis in other IAI publication series.

The online application must be sent via email to the address study(at)iai.it [subject: Bando-laureandi-2023] by 6 July 2023 (new deadline) in a single PDF file. The application should include:

  • A short outline of the Master’s Thesis, already approved by the student’s supervising Professor at his/her University;
  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • List of exams taken with indication of the grades obtained;
  • Signed form for the consent to data processing (download).

The selected candidates will be invited to an interview which will take place in early July 2023.
