The Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) and the School of International Studies (SIS) at the University of Trento are pleased to announce a conference to discuss Italian foreign policy one year after the outbreak of the war against Ukraine. Based on the analysis conducted by the Institute's researchers in the annual Report on Italy's Foreign Policy, continuities and discontinuities in the actions of the two governments headed by Mario Draghi and Giorgia Meloni will be highlighted in the complex international framework that emerged following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The Mediterranean is, even more so today following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a crossroads of clashes and conflicts but also of opportunities for political and economic cooperation. In this rapidly changing context, public and private institutions, companies, financial operators, civil society actors and non-profit organisations operate and interact.

A geopolitical area of various definitions, the Middle East remains one of the most complex chessboards to analyze. In fact, there are numerous interests of regional and global players which contribute to making the area as central as it is unstable.
