Migration policies: Spain, Italy and EU

In recent years migrations from the Mediterranean area towards the South European coastlines have become a highly topical issue, both on a national and international level. Spain and Italy are particularly exposed to this serious phenomenon but their ways of dealing with it are dissimilar in a number of points. Moreover, there is a lack of solutions at a European level.

With the Elcano Institute of Madrid and an active contribution from the Italian embassy in the Spanish capital, IAI promoted a seminar on this issue and its various bilateral and European aspects.
