The private energy sector is a key contributor to the economic development and political stability of the Mediterranean region. Companies engaged in the gas and electricity sectors have a positive role in promoting local investments, a broader access to energy, a stronger reduction of emissions. The benefits go well beyond the energy dimension, encouraging social development and political dialogue. The event aims at analying the activity of the private sector in the area and at discussing prospects and responses to the massive transformations needed in the Mediterranean.

The event - organised in cooperation with WWF Italy - aims at debating the path to accomplish a fair and just ecological transition together with the main representatives from institutions, civil society, industrial and trade unions. Without an adequate attention to the socio-economic effects of the ongoing transformations, managing the transition to a net-zero economy in a socially sustainable way and within the timeframe set by the Paris Agreement will prove extremely difficult.
