The new frontiers of natural gas in Europe

- current

The objective of this research project is to analyse the role of gas in the context of the European energy transition. It will analyse the new frontiers of gas both in geographical terms and in terms of employment in new sectors where gas could have a strategic role, namely in sustainable mobility. The project aims at guiding market players in these strategic considerations and at feeding into the public debate, highlighting the macro-economic implications of the choices that both the public and private sector will face.

The role of Italy in the international economy of hydrogen: geo-economic and geopolitical implications

- current

This molecule presents some favourable characteristics that allow to overcome some limitations of electrification, such as the possibility of seasonal storage, suitability for long-distance transportation and emissions reduction in hard-to-abate sectors such as the heavy industry. The creation of a new hydrogen market could lead to ground-breaking geo-economic and geopolitical consequences, creating new interdependence dynamics and leading to the decline of energy superpowers and the rise of new ones.
