Le sfide del multipolarismo e le strategie della politica estera italiana

2008 - 2010

In a study project on the Italian foreign policy in a global multipolar system, financed by the Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena and guided dall'Arel, the IAI was in charge of coordinating a working group including scholars, analysts and representatives from institutions and firms. Carrying on an analysis already undertaken in the framework of a previous IAI-AREL joint initiative, the working group focused on some key issues such as the reform of the main international institutions (IMF, WB, WTO) and the perspectives of cooperation between the most relevant global economic areas. By means of a constant monitoring of the main countries' government positions, as well as negotiations held in the scope of G8 and G20, scenarios on future evolutions of the global economic governance were defined in order to understand the EU and Italy's role in the reforming process. Within the project, the 18th Novembre 2009, took place the international conference "Global Governance and economic growth in the world economy after the crisis".

On 15 July 2010 IAI held the conference on "Scenari del dopo crisi: nuove regole e istituzioni" for the presentation of the book edited by Paolo Guerrieri and Domenico Lombardi, L'architettura del mondo nuovo. Governance economica e sistema multipolare, Bologna, Il Mulino, 2010.
