European reforms and Italy's priorities: strategic lines for a new European governance after the Ukrainian conflict

2022 - 2023

The project aims to define some priorities related to the Italian national interest in different strategic sectors. This initiative finds its focal point in the European agenda, stressing in particular the role of Italy in a complicated moment marked by new challenges for the European Union and the entire world. The Institute's research targeted the following areas: the EU economic governance; green transition and the potential new sources of energy supply; migration and asylum policy management. The purpose is to provide to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation a package of comprehensive and multi-modular recommendations that can serve as food for thought in light of the approaching European and multilateral negotiations. The coordination of the project is entrusted to the programme "EU policies and institutions" with the contributions of the fellow programmes "Energy, climate, and resources" and "Multilateralism and global governance. As part of the project, each program organized a public event and a roundtable between stakeholders behind closed doors, with the aim of gathering the broadest and most articulated feedback possible from experts with different backgrounds and affiliations. The final proposals will be organically illustrated in a final study addressed to the attention of the Italian government. The document will be presented during an institutional event organized at the Institute's headquarter in June 2023.
