30/07/2012

Offsets are a significant practices of the international defense market and their use is so widespread as controversial. Generally considered one of the causes of the inherent imperfection of the international defense market, offsets seem however to promote industrial diversification and technological development, opening new frontiers for further cooperation between states. One example is India, which relies on the compensation agreements to meet the needs of its Armed Forces, while supporting the national economy. The book aims to explore the theme of offsets - of mechanisms and interests that push many countries to require them as a form of fulfillment of military procurement procedures - and analyzes their criticalities and benefits at a national and international level.
