Focus euroatlantico n. 9 (maggio-ottobre 2025)
The third Euro-Atlantic Focus of 2025 opens, as usual, with an analysis of the state of transatlantic relations (accompanied by a series of graphs). Luca Barana analyses European countries' attempts to ensure greater stability in their relations with the US in light of the unilateralist and nationalist approach of the Trump Administration. In the section on US domestic politics, Riccardo Alcaro delve into the trade and economic policy of the Trump Administration, which has introduced high tariffs and promoted the approval of a budget law with significant impact on federal debt and welfare policies. Alcaro addresses Trump's immigration policies and the legal disputes it has engendered. In the special essay, Ludovica Castelli and Sara Vicinanza trace the evolution of the international ban anti-personnel mines. The authors focus in particular on the recent decisions of six states, including Ukraine, Finland and Poland, to withdraw from the treaty, the role of Italy, and possible actions to safeguard the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law.
