Transatlantic Security Symposium - 8. ed.

2015 - 2016

The eighth edition of the Transatlantic Security Symposium was held in Rome on October 26th, 2015. The conference focused on “Challenges to European Security. A Transatlantic Perspective".
The initiative was supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Compagnia di San Paolo, and NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division.

Launched by IAI in 2007 to establish an annual forum in Rome involving security experts and officials from the United States, Europe and Russia, this year’s Symposium aimed to discuss the main challenges to the European security in four principal thematic areas:

  1. Fight Against Terrorism: How to Deal with ISIS?
  2. Dealing with the Ukrainian Crisis: A Transatlantic Strategy
  3. NATO and European Security: Back to the Roots?
  4. Dealing with uncertainty and volatility: Challenges and opportunities for Europe's energy security.

A reviewed version of the four papers presented at the conference has been published in the IAI Working Papers series. The conference report has been published in the Documenti IAI series (see related contents).
