Development goal: Strengthening Italy’s development cooperation in times of international crisis
The project aims to analyse the Italian development cooperation agenda within the evolving global landscape, with a specific focus on high-level policy analysis and multi-stakeholder dialogue. From this perspective, the work centres on examining Italy’s role within the international health architecture and its contributions to multilateral organisations dedicated to combating major communicable diseases. In this regard, the project concentrates on the synergies between Italian policy-makers and international fora, particularly during the G7 and budgetary negotiations at the European level. The research also prioritises the implementation of the Mattei Plan and the strengthening of bilateral partnerships in the health sector, with a specific geographical focus on the Africa region. The initiative includes the organisation of diverse events, ranging from public conferences to closed-door institutional meetings, engaging academics, government representatives and non-governmental organisations. Furthermore, the publication of analytical briefs, podcast and a final report is planned to synthesise the project’s findings and provide a strategic assessment of future cooperation trends.
