The security aspects of European space programmes
IAI is conducting a study for the Italian Space Agency (Agenzia spaziale italiana – ASI) entitled: “Assessment and analysis of security-related aspects of ESA programmes, in relation to European governance and their impact on national space activities and EU initiatives.”
The study, intended for internal use by ASI, aims to support a deeper understanding of the security dimensions linked to the European Space Agency (ESA) programmes. It also examines their connection to the broader European space governance framework and the potential impact these programmes may have on both European and Italian space activities, particularly in light of recent EU initiatives in this field.
As part of the research project (October 2024-March 2026), IAI engages in dialogue with key stakeholders in the space sector, including through the organisation of closed-door workshops held under the Chatham House Rule, in order to foster a frank and constructive exchange of views.
