Biography

Federica Marconi is Research Fellow in the “Geoeconomics and global governance” programme at the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI). Her research focuses on national and international efforts to govern the digital domain, with particular attention to the geopolitical and geoeconomic of technological innovation. She also deals with the evolution of economic security in the digital age, with a particular focus on the screening of foreign direct investment. During Italy’s 2024 G7 Presidency, she served as co-coordinator of Task Force 4 “Science and Digitalisation for a Better Future” of the Think7.
She has been a visiting researcher in the Working Group on Public Administration at the University of Konstanz, at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich and Fordham University in New York.
Federica earned a five-year Law Degree from the University of Rome Tor Vergata and completed a Postgraduate Master in Administrative Law at LUISS Guido Carli University. She holds a PhD (European Label) focused on the role of the state in the economy in light of shifting geopolitical dynamics, analysing the case of investment screening mechanisms in Europe and the United States.
