G20 and tourism recovery

Tourism has been one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic. The IAI, as Co-Chair of T20, will hold a webinar “How to safely reopen international travel and support tourism: The role of G20” on April 26 on the role of G20 in safely reopening international travel and supporting tourism recovery. The event, organised in collaboration with Boeing, aims to examine the mechanisms and protocols that can be introduced at the international level, with the support of the G20, to ensure a safely return to tourism after the restrictions adopted to contain the pandemic. The meeting will include a discussion on recent evidence-based studies by Boeing and other companies suggesting new policies and procedures to ensure international travel safety.

The roundtable will be introduced by Ferdinando Nelli Feroci (President of the International Affairs Institute) and Angela Natale (Managing Director of Boeing Southern Europe). The opening speech will be held by Massimo Garavaglia (Italian Minister of Tourism). The event will include the speeches of Ivan Bassato (Executive Vice President Operations of Aeroporti di Roma), Gabriele Burgio (President and CEO of Alpitour Group), Thomas Reynaert (Managing Director of Airlines for Europe), Paola Testori Coggi (Lead Co-Chair of the T20 Task Force on Global Health and Covid-19). The technical session will be held by Lindsay Jones (Associate Technical Fellow of Boeing), Jeffrey Townsend (Professor at Yale School of Public Health, and EasyJet) and Ivan Bassato. The event will be moderated by Frediano Finucci (Business and Foreign Desk Chief at TgLa7).
