The Future of Natural Gas. Markets and Geopolitics

27/05/2016, Rabat

On the 27th of May, the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) and OCP Policy Center have organized an international seminar in Rabat, in which prominent experts presented the book The Future of Natural Gas. Markets and Geopolitics. The volume is published in cooperation with the European Energy Review (EER).
The book discusses different topics related to the future of gas markets in the face of changing (oil) price dynamics, new demand and supply patterns from old actors, as well as newcomers, and geopolitical shifts. The chapters explore gas trends with a geographic focus, also discussing selected thematic issues, such as the rise of LNG.
A previous closed-door event, aimed at discussing the draft chapters, was held in Rome in mid-December 2015. The day-long international seminar in Rabat was divided in two sessions on (1) Global Gas Trends and the Rise of LNG: Market and regulatory forces and (2) The Functioning of Global Gas Markets: The policy and geopolitical dimensions, followed by a roundtable discussion with private sector representatives and other stakeholders. The seminar was attended by the Moroccan Minister of Energy, Mines, Water, and the Environment who delivered a keynote speech.
