The project examines the implications of the war against Ukraine on the security structure in Europe and the conditions for rebuilding a strategic balance through new deterrence relationships and new regimes and agreements on arms control as well as trust-building and security measures.

The project was aimed at fostering regular dialogue between Italian diplomats and international affairs experts, departing from the premise that plurality of ideas and perspectives enriches the strategic reflection on Italy's international action. In addition to IAI, the think tanks ISPI, Aspen, CeSPI and ECFR participated in the project. The five institutes organised a series of discussion meetings on topics of international relevance for Italy, based on which dedicated papers were published.
