United Kingdom Beyond Brexit

20/04/2021

Last month Prime Minister Boris Johnson made a statement to the House of Commons on the Integrated Review (IR), the document that outlines the new geopolitical positioning of the United Kingdom from now until 2030. It is a strategy that embodies, for the first time in a single document, the guidelines of defence, development and foreign policy of the British government, in an international context characterized by greater competition and new global challenges.

A few months after the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union, the IR also offers, for the first time, the opportunity to reflect on the prospects for collaboration between the United Kingdom and the major international partners. Among these, Italy plays a very special role this year.

The webinar "United Kingdom Beyond Brexit", organised by IAI in cooperation with British Embassy Rome, took place on April 19, 2021 from 11:30 to 12:30. Jill Morris, UK Ambassador to Italy, talked with Nathalie Tocci, Director of the International Affairs Institute. The roundtable was also composed of the following panelists: Stefano Polli, Deputy Director, ANSA; Danilo Taino, Columnist, Corriere della Sera. The debate has been moderated by Francesco De Leo, Managing Director, AffarInternazionali.
