La Germania ha votato. Quali conseguenze per il Paese e per l’Europa?

29/09/2021

The German elections of September 26, 2021 are considered by many observers to be historic for several reasons, starting with the fact that Angela Merkel, at the helm of Germany for sixteen years, will be the first Chancellor not to reapply in the history of the Federal Republic.

The SPD Social Democrats are currently leading the polls, followed by the Christian Democrats of the CDU-CSU and the German Greens, but the situation is constantly evolving. Less than a week before the vote, the result appears more open than ever and, consequently, the post-election scenarios are many and not easy to predict.

How will the game end? What are the most likely scenarios? Will other parties like the liberal FDP or the radical left Die Linke play a role in future negotiations? In short, what future and what direction will Germany take in the post-Merkel era?

During this meeting we analyzed the post-elections results and tried to understand what coalition would govern the country. Also, we hypothesized the path that Germany will take in the next four years as well as analyzed the possible repercussions for Italy and for Europe.
