On October 18, the University of Turin and the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) co-organize an academic workshop at the Fondazione Luigi Einaudi in Turin to discuss the recently published book “The Middle East from Empire to Sealed Identities” by Lorenzo Kamel. 3 lectures delivered by Khaled Fahmy (University of Cambridge), Pınar Bilgin (Bilkent University) and Lorenzo Kamel (University of Turin) will discuss the most important theses of the book. The meeting will be opened by Nicolò Russo Perez (Compagnia di San Paolo) and moderated by Michael Young (Carnegie Center, Beirut).

On October 17, the rectorate hall of the University Turin will host a New-Med conference entitled “Cultural Heritage and Illicit Trafficking in a Fragmented Middle East”. The meeting, co-organized by the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) and the University of Turin’s Department of Historical Studies, relies upon the cooperation and support of the Compagnia di San Paolo, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the German Marshall Fund (GMF) of the United States, and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
