"A large part of a country's security is today defined by events beyond one's national borders. In Italy's case on the other side of the Mediterranean". Marco Minniti, Italian Minister of the Interior, spoke about Libya, migration and terrorism during a meeting with IAI. The minister joined IAI also on Monday 27 November, for a conference on Italy's and the EU's role in Libya organized with Reset Dialogues on Civilizations.

With 23 of the EU's current 28 member states joining the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO), the EuropeanUnion took a major step towards a further integration and created the main framework for a security and defence union. A political signal to "EU citizens and the outside world", and a show of unity after Brexit. Are all 23 going to actually live up to this ambitious commitment? This is going to be the major challenge in the coming weeks and months.
