IAI 50^th Anniversary Conference under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic.

At the conference we discussed long-term strategic issues, such as the prospects for EU integration, the future of transatlantic relations and the geopolitical challenges in the EU’s neighbourhoods.

The event, which took place on the afternoon of Friday, November 13 and the morning of Saturday, November  14, offered also an opportunity to recall the IAI’s accomplishments over the last half a century, as well as discuss its future role in Italy and Europe.

In order to resolve international crisis, and especially the on-going conflict in Syria, “it is essential that the European Union play an active role. Not out of a delusion of leadership or to encroach on the prerogatives of national governments, but out of an understanding that only when the diplomatic actions of all twenty-eight Member States work in synergy with one another can Europe obtain positive results.
