The role of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) in Italy and Europe

The research project aimed at analyzing Italy's and Europe's investment in the JSF aeronautical program, providing suggestions on how to improve the program's performance at the European level. Participation in the program and acquisition of the US multimode Joint Strike Fighter aircraft by Italy and other European countries will produce long-term strategic, operational, economic and industrial effects. Adequate knowledge of the consequences are therefore required to be able to advise political, military and industrial policymakers. The study defined some options for strengthening the program's cooperative European dimension, with particular attention to Italy. Among the reserch outlets were a volume and a conference in Rome on 6 October 2008.
