Stati Uniti, Italia e il futuro dell’ordine mediorientale
The project (September 2025-June 2026) aims at strengthening Italy’s role as a privileged interlocutor between the United States, Europe and key actors in the Middle East, contributing to regional stability through analysis, dialogue and strategic networking. The initiative focuses on three main issues: the reengagement with Iran, the support for a more structured partnership between Europe and the Gulf countries in coordination with Washington, and the definition of a shared approach to Syria’s transition. The project brings together the expertise of researchers on Italian and European foreign policy with that on the Middle Eastern region, who will interact with a network built over the years. This includes Italian and European policymakers, as well as counterparts in the decision-making centres of Tehran, Riyadh and Ankara, thus involving a broad and diverse range of stakeholders.
The project involves the publication of policy briefs, closed-door meetings with Italian, European and Middle Eastern decision-makers, workshops in three European capitals and a final public event in Rome. The overarching goal is to provide actionable ideas and spaces for dialogue that support Italy in leveraging its diplomatic and soft-power assets in processes of mediation, dialogue and the building of regional agreements.
