L’ambiente subacqueo come motore di innovazione tecnologica
The underwater environment is gaining increasing international importance as technological innovation surmounts longstanding difficulties in its exploration. As with the space domain, the widespread push toward a more intense use of the underwater environment is destined to accelerate and intensify technological innovation, which, in turn, will improve the prospects for its economic exploitation – with inevitable strategic and military implications. The underwater sector is highly diverse and involves universities, militaries and companies focusing on defence, security and civilian applications – or indeed any combination of these. In Italy and elsewhere, therefore, innovation in this field cannot be compartmentalised in specific niches, but must instead be channelled toward a comprehensive national strategy.
