No relevant steps towards the realisation of a European security and defence policy have been taken in April.
Some declarations have been made by national authorities and those in charge of European foreign policy, while the work of newborn ESDP bodies has been focused on internal issues.
This period of sedimentation of the initiatives of previous months could help to tackle emerging problems, in view of future meetings and the conclusion of the Portuguese Presidency
