The event brought together policymakers, researchers and experts in a closed-door discussion on the challenges posed by bilateral dynamics in the EU enlargement process. Drawing on lessons from the Western Balkans, participants explored practical approaches to addressing bilateral disputes, strengthening the role of member states in the enlargement process, and supporting progress in the accession paths of Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkans. The event was organised by the Istituto Affari Internazionali, in cooperation with the Res Publica Foundation, the Future Democracy Lab at the Jagiellonian University, and the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw, with the support of the Open Society Foundations – Western Balkans within the framework of the InCLUDE initiative. The discussion was held under the Chatham House Rule.
