Spritz Diplomacy – South Korea-Europe Relations in an Age of Growing Power Competition and Multilateral Fragmentation

With the crucial support of the Korea Foundation, IAI and the Italian Embassy to the Republic of Korea co-organized a special event in Seoul on 12 May 2026, hosted by Ambassador Emilia Gatto as part of her “Spritz Diplomacy” series. The panel – featuring Riccardo Alcaro (IAI), Prof. Kang Seonjou (KNDA), Prof. Mason Richey (HUFS) and EU Ambassador Ugo Astuto – debated Europe-South Korea relations in an age of growing competition and multilateral fragmentation. Held at the Ambassador’s Residence, the event gathered an elite audience of 100 foreign diplomats and journalists.
