Luca Giansanti
Ambassador Luca Giansanti joined the Italian diplomatic service in 1984 and has held several senior positions, including: Deputy Director General for European Integration (2006-2008), Director General for Multilateral Political Cooperation and Human Rights (2008-2009), Ambassador to the EU Political and Security Committee in Brussels (2010-2012), Ambassador to Tehran (2013-2014), and Director General for Political Affairs and Security (2014-2018). He has also served in Washington, DC and Algiers.
Both in Rome and overseas, he has dealt particularly with European integration; press and information; and political and security issues, with special focus on the Mediterranean and Middle East, transatlantic relations, Russia, and the main multilateral organizations and forums (United Nations, European Union, OSCE, NATO, G7).
He served as Head of Relations with the European Union for Eni SpA, based in Brussels, from 2019 to 2024.
He was a member of the Steering Committee of IAI (2016-2019) and Scientific Director of the Treccani Geopolitical Atlas (2019-2020).
He holds a degree in Political Science from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris (Sciences-Po) and LUISS in Rome.
