Il Piano Mattei per l'Africa: stato dell'arte, sinergie e prospettive future
The Mattei Plan for Africa, launched by the Italian Government, represents a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation between Italy and African countries, promoting sustainable development, energy security, and reciprocal stability. Nearly two years after its formal launch, the Plan has considerably increased the number of target countries. A in-depth reflection on the status of the Plan's implementation, its implications, and future challenges, is vital for the future steps of the initiative.
The round table, organized under the Chatham House Rule, had the aim to:
- Evaluate the progress in the implementation of the Mattei Plan, analyzing the priority sectors, and the preliminary results achieved.
- Examine the level of coordination between the Mattei Plan and broader multilateral initiatives within the European context (e.g., Global Gateway), the G7 (e.g., PGII), and the African context (e.g., Agenda 2063), identifying potential synergies and areas of overlap.
- Identify the main challenges to be addressed for the full and effective realization of the Plan, with particular attention to the financial, operational, governance, and local partner involvement aspects.
- Gather insights and concrete recommendations to optimize the Plan's implementation, ensuring its sustainability and long-term impact.
