Matteo Mecacci is a well-known international expert in democratic governance, human rights, diplomacy and politics. He served as Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) (2020-2024). Previously, he was President of the International Campaign for Tibet in Washington (2013-2020). In 2013, he led the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission to Georgia. Mecacci was a member of the Italian Parliament, Foreign Affairs Committee and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (2008-2013). From 2000 to 2008, he represented No Peace Without Justice at the United Nations in New York. He holds a JD in International Law from the University of Florence.
