Biography

Marco Varvello is a journalist with over thirty years of experience as a foreign correspondent and commentator on international affairs. He lives and works in London.
He holds a degree in Philosophy and began his career as a reporter in Milan at the daily newspapers La Notte and Il Giornale, at the time directed by Indro Montanelli.
He has been working for RAI since 1987, where he anchored the news for TG1 and served as curator and editor of Il Fatto, a programme by Enzo Biagi. From 2014 to 2025, he served as UK Bureau Chief for RAI Italian Television, based in London. Previously, he was RAI’s Chief Correspondent in Germany, based in Berlin (2006-2014), Special Correspondent in the United States, based in New York and Junior Correspondent from London (1997-2005).
Marco Varvello is a member of the Committee of the Italian-German Cultural Centre “Villa Vigoni” and of the Foreign Press Association in London. As the author of several books on current affairs and fiction, he has received the Ado-Lisant Literary Prize (Lille-Brussels) and the London Foreign Press Award 2018 for the best foreign-language programme about the UK.
