Le industrie energivore in Italia tra competitività e decarbonizzazione

Industrial decarbonisation and competitiveness are a European priority today. Countries must pursue different technological solutions (electrification, hydrogen, methane emissions reduction, CCS) to mitigate emissions in industrial sectors, especially in energy-intensive industries. If governments are to succeed in their strategies, a cleaner industrial sector must be followed by an industrial decarbonisation strategy that addresses also the social implications of the transformation. Furthermore, the new energy and economic scenario also requires coordination of national and international dimensions.

The author (Dr. Pier Paolo Raimondi, Senior Researcher of IAI's Energy, Climate and Resources Programme) will present the main conclusions of two reports and the research on the topic, carried out as part of a project in collaboration with Environmental Defense Fund Europe.

The event will be an opportunity to discuss possible strategies for a fair industrial decarbonisation using Italy as a case study with various experts and stakeholders. The speakers will provide insights into different solutions and priorities, including methane emissions reductions and hydrogen. The discussion will be based on the key findings of the last two IAI papers on these topics.
