Turkey and Eastern Neighbours - Curricular internship - 2016

IAI seeks an intern for the “Turkey and European Neighbourhood” department

Candidates

Must be enrolled in the final year of a Master's degree or PhD degree in one of the following faculties: Economics, Political Science, International Relations and Diplomacy, Literature and Philosophy.

Duration
Three months, from May to July, or from September to mid-December 2016.

Requirements

  • Keen interest and knowledge of historical political, social and economic dynamics of the European Neighbourhood

  • Understanding of Turkey-EU relations and Turkish foreign policy in the neighbourhood

  • Proficiency in English; a basic knowledge of the Turkish language would be an additional asset; knowledge of Italian is not required but is preferred

  • Computer skills: MS Office, web navigation

  • An Internship agreement between the University and the Italian Institute of International Affairs (IAI) (an agreement undersigned by the legal representatives of the University and the IAI, and by the intern, containing rights and duties of the parties), already signed or to be created.

Selected candidates will be contacted for an interview to be held by May 6, 2016 on the IAI premises in Rome or via Skype. 

Activities

The intern will be involved in various IAI projects. He/she will conduct research using a range of sources including internet, specialized journals, the press, and official documents. When requested, he/she will produce briefs/memos for internal use. He/she will also be asked to write a book review in English for the IAI English-language journal, The International Spectator, or the IAI online magazine, AffarInternazionali.it.

Alongside research, the intern must be available to perform other tasks necessary for the implementation of research projects (translations, gathering of documentation, etc.).

The intern will also participate in conferences and seminars organised by IAI.

The internship is not remunerated.
