Main responsibilities in the position

The Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), based in Rome (Italy), is seeking to hire a Social media manager and marketing assistant to support IAI’s editorial team with a focus on the following issues:

  • Social media management
  • Blog administration
  • Marketing and communications
  • Scholarly publishing


The tasks will include:

  • Management of the social media accounts (Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky, LinkedIn) of IAI’s journal The International Spectator and of IAI’s book series (Trends and Perspectives in International Politics; IAI Research Studies) in coordination with the journal’s editorial staff (editorial planning; creation and publication of posts and visuals)

  • Administration of The International Spectator blog in coordination with the journal’s editors (editorial planning; commissioning of content and book reviews; editing, post-production and online uploading of text and multimedia content, such as podcasts)

  • Drafting of the dedicated quarterly newsletter to promote the new issues of The International Spectator and the latest publications in IAI’s book series

  • Further marketing activities aimed at disseminating the content of The International Spectator and IAI’s book series, including organisation of online launch events and event promotion through dedicated mailing lists

  • Data collection and analysis about the impact of the above mentioned marketing and social media activities

  • Supporting the journal’s editors in managing The International Spectator and IAI’s book series as requested (e.g. taking part in online editorial board meetings and taking minutes)

  • Supporting the activity of the communications team of IAI in the process of revising and publishing content in English (monthly newsletters, social media posts, news, press releases, calls for proposals).
     

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A Master’s degree in political science, languages, arts or media studies
  • Excellent (C2 CEFR level) English writing and communication skills
  • Experience in social media management, blog administration and marketing activities
  • Familiarity with editorial work, especially non-fiction
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment


What we are offering

The successful candidate will be offered an initial 2-month contract lasting from November 1st 2024 (tentative date) to December 31st, 2024, with the possibility of renewal for 12 months in 2025. The annual offered salary is € 8,400.00 gross paid in equal monthly installments with relative tax and social security deductions as provided by law.

The position can be carried out on a fully remote basis.
