Ferdinando Nelli Feroci reelected as President of Istituto Affari Internazionali

On April 27th with the approval of financial statements, the General Assembly has reelected Ambassador Ferdinando Nelli Feroci as president of the IAI.

In these years, thanks to his expertise in European affairs and, more generally, in the field of foreign policy, Ambassador Nelli Feroci has provided strong impetus for the consolidation of the IAI’s activities. This new mandate is a recognition of the success of the results obtained and it establish the will to carry on a line of development that began in 2013 with his first election.

During his diplomatic career from 1972 to 2013, he was Italy’s Permanent Representative to the EU in Brussels (2008-13), Chief of Staff (2006-08) and Director General for European Integration (2004-06) at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In June 2014 he was appointed to the post of European Commissioner in the Commission chaired by Manuel Barroso to replace Antonio Tajani, a position he held until the end of the mandate of the Commission on 1 November 2014. He has been professor at the Istituto Universitario Orientale of Naples and at the School of Government of LUISS, Rome. He has been Fellow at the Center for International Affairs, Harvard University. He is the author of many articles and essays on international relations, European affairs and political affairs.
