This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Thessaloniki European Council, which for the first time affirmed the membership perspective of the Western Balkans. In May, the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Sofia revamped the EU’s engagement with the region. On June 6th, the IAI brought the matter up again in a conference, in cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations and the European Fund for the Balkans.
